Alan Maglio and Medhin Paolos, Asmarina film directors

Alan

Maglio,

photographer-director, has represented his works in different exhibitions and festivals in Italy and abroad.

His style is a mix between portraiture, street photography and documentary and often tackles different topics related to cultural identities.

He lives and works in Milan. “Asmarina” is his second film after “Milano Centrale – Stories from the Train Station”.

Medhin

Paolos,

filmmaker, photographer, electronic musician, and social justice activist.

For ten years she was part of the folk-electronic band Fiamma Fumana, a tribute to the female vocal tradition of Northern Italy (like the choirs of Mondine (rice gatherers). Creating an intriguing blend of old Italian dance tunes played to new Italian dance grooves, traditional ballads and state-of-the art electronica.

She is a co-founder of the Milano chapter of Rete G2 (Second Generation Network), a national organization that promotes the human and civil rights of children of immigrants in Italy.
